Editorial policy
Western Ideas Review aims to make intellectual history clear without making it tidier than it was. We value accuracy, fair representation, independence, and a visible distinction between editorial work and paid collaboration.
Accuracy and context
Writers and editors should check names, dates, quotations, and claims against suitable sources before publication. Interpretive claims should be presented as interpretations, not settled facts. We preserve relevant context and avoid presenting a thinker’s work as a single neat doctrine when the record is more complicated. We do not claim research or access to sources that have not been consulted.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for their relevance, clarity, and merit. A partnership or commercial relationship does not determine our conclusions, our coverage, or whether an article is accepted. We do not publish material that disguises promotion as independent editorial work.
Corrections
If you spot a factual error or a misleading passage, contact us through the Contact page and identify the article and the point at issue. We review correction requests, amend confirmed errors, and make the nature of a meaningful correction clear to readers. A difference of interpretation may call for explanation rather than a factual correction.
Paid work and illustrations
Paid collaborations and partner material are clearly labelled wherever they appear, so readers can distinguish them from independent editorial coverage. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; where that applies, the image is identified accordingly. Illustrations are not evidence for historical claims.
